Lover’s Key State Park is a great place to get away from the large number of tourists in Southwest Florida.

Specialty Species:

Osprey:  Ospreys can be seen nesting on the platforms around the park.

Bald Eagle:  There are two active Bald Eagle nests located in the park.

Waders:  Scan the bays during low tide for species such as Roseate Spoonbill and Tri-colored Heron.

Snowy and Piping Plovers:  The beaches in this area are home to nesting Snowy and Piping Plovers.  Look for them along the beaches and be respectful of beach closures that protect these species nests.

Least Tern:  Least Terns also nest along these beaches.  Watch for them during the spring and summer.

Directions:

From Fort Myers Beach:  Take Estero Boulevard south through Fort Myers Beach, after crossing the bridge over Big Carlos Pass go 1.1 miles to the park entrance on the right (west) side of the road.

From Everywhere Else:  From the intersection of US-41 and Bonita Beach Road, take Bonita Beach Road west.  After crossing over the New Pass Bridge, go 1 miles and turn left (west) into the park.
